{"id":1170,"date":"2016-04-12T07:47:25","date_gmt":"2016-04-12T07:47:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crcasia.org\/?p=1170"},"modified":"2017-07-06T02:26:32","modified_gmt":"2017-07-06T02:26:32","slug":"uncrc-general-comments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crcasia.org\/uncrc-general-comments\/","title":{"rendered":"UNCRC GENERAL COMMENTS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crcasia.org\/1213-2\/\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)<\/b><\/span><\/a> is a treaty which protects and promotes the civil, political, economic, social, health and cultural rights of children.\u00a0It was signed in November 20, 1989 and entered into force on September 2, 1990. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/EN\/HRBodies\/CRC\/Pages\/CRCIndex.aspx\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>The Committee on the Convention of the Rights of the Child\u00a0(CRC)<\/b><\/span><\/a>, composed of 18 independent experts, monitors the implementation of the UNCRC including its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crcasia.org\/1220-2\/\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>optional protocols<\/b><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The CRC also elaborates on the treaty by making General Comments. General Comments analyze and interpret sections of the UNCRC and provide implementation guidelines for State Parties and non-state actors. Although they are not binding, General Comments clarify what are expected of member states in fulfilling their obligations to the Convention.
